From the Board

Minutes from the June 28, 2026, Board Meeting can be found here.

The Al-anon event scheduled for and held 6/27/26 was a success.

There were no Alateen participants that
attended the June convention. Teresita indicates the rents for all Al-anon meetings at the center total $400.00 monthly.

Cory motions for a budget to provide an additional women’s restroom key to the Al-anon representative: Wanda volunteered her key for the cause and will replace it.

Flooring purchase remains tabled until two month reserve is met.

Lease renegotiation is on hold until the space usage/snack bar proposal is further solidified.

Existing service animal signage is acceptable. Trusted servants and meeting secretaries are encouraged
to address any aberrant activities.

Secretary Announcements

Joe brought up continued issues with people congregating outside of the stairwell causing disruptions during meetings, he stressed the importance of teaching our rules to both other members and secretaries alike. Wanda is going to add a note in the Secretary binder to announce at the beginning of the meeting as a reminder to obey the rules of our club. Mark suggested to add “expect a
trusted member to ask you to move.”

Thank you for your service!

The other recurring issue is the numerous attendees bringing dogs into meetings. ONLY TRAINED SERVICE ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED ON THE PREMISES, and this DOES NOT include “emotional support animals.” Bringing untrained companion animals that are not performing a vital service opens the Board up to liability and jeopardizes our lease. We count on meeting secretaries and other attendees to hold people accountable and we cannot allow any exceptions to this rule. We are legally allowed to ask the following questions: Is this a service animal? And what task are they trained to perform? If it is not a service animal, then it needs to leave the meeting. If the owner refuses to leave, then a disciplinary report should be filed so appropriate disciplinary action can be taken.
